Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, an Mexican American sportscaster. She is an ESPN anchor of news and hosts SportsNation sometimes. She began her career at ESPN in the year 2016. Her mother is the reporter for television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bi-lingual since when she was nine years old. Her abilities were crucial in helping her land her first job as a production assistant at Univision Miami at which time she assisted the production of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. A CBS affiliate located in St. Petersburg hired her for a position as an sports reporter. The year 2009 saw her move to Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an anchor for the newscast of KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories about immigration and drug-trafficking on both sides of the border between Mexico and Texas, she was the reporter for the 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of the 9 p.m. newscast in English and also an anchor for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. She was also often asked to be an anchor for the weather or sports. Then she became the anchor and reporter on Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. Her duties were then expanded to greater responsibilities. She covered events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason and finals FC Dallas as well. Additionally, she was the producer of Univision 23's local sports broadcast Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was the anchor. In addition, she was the host on the morning show of Despierta America Deportes. Also, she was a sports anchor for Primer Impacto, a magazine program on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' parents were born in Veracruz Mexico. They moved into Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in the month of November in 1985. Her older sister is also hers. In 1992, the family relocated from Mexico and relocated to Miami. They divorced shortly thereafter and in 1995 her mother married a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. She stayed there in Canton Ohio with her older sister over the summer, when she was approached for an opportunity to work. Antonietta was a senior in high school with a plan of what she wanted her life to look like, came to Mount Union University to determine what she could get out of the college. It turned out that she was a fan of the campus and also that the university had the major she wanted. After graduation, she enrolled at the university for a degree in media studies. They developed a lasting relationship with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the manager at WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a part. Professor Bergmann was a great influence on her by his passion about journalism. He also deeply impacted her.
